Facial Signs of Jing and Qi Markers - Lillian Bridges
One of the earliest uses of Facial Diagnosis was to determine the quantity and quality of Jing, the inherited constitution. Jing Markers on the face give insight into this fundamental energy. Stamina and types of potential strength are seen from the ear and bone structure of the nose and jaw, strength of the procreative and creative energies, along with longevity, can be evaluated from the philtrum.
Because the overuse of Jing is rampant in the Western world, it is important to recognize the signs of Jing Deficiency on the face, and the markers that show what kinds of Qi need be made to buffer the Jing. Diagnostically, it is also easy to see when Jing is not being accessed from the Seas of Yin and Yang because of blockages on the Du and Ren Channels of the Extraordinary Meridians. Learning how to access this additional Jing is crucial, especially when practitioners are dealing with serious illnesses.

Touching the Hara - Holly Guzman
Hara Diagnosis, or abdominal palpation, allows a great deal of direct, pertinent health information to be quickly assessed by the practitioner. However, touching the abdomen may create an awkward and challenging experience for the patient. This talk outlines practical basics of how to engage a patient’s Hara, highlights issues to be aware of, and provides tools for practitioners to allow for transformation in those below the belt issues.

Qi Gong for Cancer: An Evidence-Based Approach to Chinese Energy Medicine - Kenneth Cohen
Qi Gong is the most extensively researched method of energy medicine in the world. Although the various postures and meditations have a wide range of applications, one of the best documented is in the treatment of cancer.
We will learn about the etiology of cancer from a qigong perspective, including the connection between cancer and liver function, cancer and pace of life, and how emotions may influence cancer initiation and development. We will also explore qigong cancer research and what it implies about the nature of subtle energies.

The Body Blueprint - Diagnosing the Qi of the Organs from the Face - Lillian Bridges
The face is a holographic representation of the body as the shapes and sizes of the features indicate strengths and deficiencies of the internal organs. A myriad of clues can be discerned from the markings on those features. Each organ requires a specific amount of qi to function, so changes in coloration reveal potential or current qi problems, including excessive or fast-moving qi, stagnation of qi and frozen qi. Inflammation caused by trapped fire that includes repressed emotions will be discussed, and possible treatments will be suggested involving the use of the points on the extraordinary meridians of the face and the secondary organ points. The information in this lecture will be immediately applicable to clinical practice, giving more depth to your diagnoses and offering new point combinations for increasingly effective treatments where underlying emotions are involved.
Session Two
Hands-On Hara Diagnosis - Holly Guzman
Gathering information from the patient’s abdominal palpation is a traditional diagnostic tool that rivals tongue diagnosis and pulse reading importance. Profoundly insightful, hara diagnosis quickly determines where there is heat, cold, qi, etc. This practical approach will teach practitioners how to do an efficient assessment with a practical style, and includes techniques for infants, teens, men, and women. This is a hands-on workshop to ensure practitioner understanding and ease with this rewarding, and valuable art.
Session Three
External Qi Healing: How To Be An Effective Healer - Ken Cohen
External Qi Healing (EQH) is at the core of China's ancient science of qigong. In EQH, healing energy (qi) is emitted from the palms and, without physically touching the client, projected either through an acupuncture needle or directly into an area of disease, distress, or pain. Although most commonly combined with acupuncture, external qi healing can increase the effectiveness of massage therapy, therapeutic touch, reiki, or any other healing modality.
First we will learn a personal qigong practice-- exercises and meditations that cleanse the body of imbalanced or unneeded energy, recharge it with vitality, and increase sensitivity to the qi chang, the "qi field" that surrounds people and nature. Then we will learn methods of EQH health assessment and specific therapeutic gestures used to treat conditions of heat, cold, inflammation, stagnation, and other forms of imbalance.
Studies conducted in both China and the West clearly demonstrate that EQH is not dependent on a client's belief system or culture. It works on animals as well as people and has been found effective for a wide range of illnesses. We will explore both the scientific and transpersonal, spiritual dimensions of EQH, including how to open the body and mind to the universal well of Healing Power in Nature, so that the healer is never in danger of depleting his or her own resources. EQH is more than a science of healing; it changes the way we view our selves and the world.
