Clinical Uses for Kardovite - Part 2

Patients who Smoke
  • Garlic's natural antioxidants can defend against free radicals produced after exposure to cigarette smoke, pollution, UV rays and radiation.

  • An antibacterial agent, cayenne pepper may be a factor in reducing risks of lung cancer. Tobacco contains a substance known by the abbreviation NNK that is an important factor in the promotion of lung cancer in smokers. Animal studies have shown that the capsaicin in cayenne peppers stops the activation of NNK and inhibits the tobacco-induced formation of lung tumors.

  • Cayenne can speed up metabolism by as much as 25 percent. The ingredient responsible for this benefit is capsaicin, which is considered a thermo-genic chemical.
  • Bilberry fruit contains tannins that reduce intestinal inflammation, and astringent properties that constrict and tighten tissues.


Patients Under Emotional Stress
  • Hawthorn has a positive inotropic effect on the heart similar to cardiac glycosides while reducing arrhythmia. This translates into a safe herb to use to prevent palpitations due to stress.
  • Garlic serves as a tonic, that is, it works to reduce fatigue and other symptoms of stress in the body.
  • Cayenne pepper produces endorphins that may help raise mood.
  • Valerian reduces negative conditions associated with anxiety and psychological stress and to aid in the health of the circulatory system.


Athletic Patients
  • The principle active constituents of Hawthorn, procyanidins and flavonoids, cause an increase in coronary blood flow due to dilatory effects, resulting in an improvement of myocardial blood flow.  Hawthorn preparations act on the myocardium by increasing force of contraction and lengthening the refractory period, increasing coronary blood flow and cardiac output, and reducing oxygen consumption.
  • Compounds in garlic inhibit key enzymes that generate inflammation in your body. By reducing inflammation, garlic may reduce the pain associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Athletes may be most interested in cayenne’s potential for relieving musculoskeletal pain.
