Time, Timing and the Timeless

Following the Chinese Calendar's Call

Time is a gift. The more we understand its rhythms and ceaseless flow, the more we can improve our own health and the health of others. The ancient Chinese were masters of time and laid out a detailed system we can still use to our benefit today.

Series Overview

Time is a continuum. Now is always with us. But around us there is always change. Sun up sun down, new moon full moon, spring summer autumn winter. Each day is always different. Time gives particular qualities of qi, definite, quantifiable, with different effects.

In this course we will follow the keen observational skills of the traditional Chinese sol-lunar calendar. From the solar calendar we will make a detailed study of the 4 seasons, 6 climates, 24 solar fortnights, 72 x 5 day periods and associated 64 hexagrams. We will also practise the 24 mainly seated traditional qi gong exercises associated with the 24 solar fortnights, each one focussing on one of the 24 vertebrae in turn.

From the lunar calendar we will observe the 12 lunar months, the first beginning at Chinese new year, the second new moon after the winter solstice on February 17th. Successive new and full moons through the year give important festivals with traditional practices.

We will also study the sexagenary cycle of the 10 heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches, an ancient counting system used simultaneously for the years, months, days and hours, which links to the elements, seasons, organs and meridians.

With each of the 12 monthly sessions we will study the various seasonal aspects for the coming month and how they affect our organs, meridians and health. We will certainly become more in tune with time ourselves and will learn practical skills on how to use time and timing to help our patients.

Disclaimers

Please read these important disclaimers before purchasing:

  • *CEU/CPD Approvals

Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days.

If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days.

We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top.

Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request.

If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.

Because this is a series, approvals are done on a course-by-course basis. If you see "[Partial Approval]" that means that not all courses have approval at this time. You will be able to request the remaining approvals if "[Remaining Upon Request]" is listed in the Pending section.
