Course Overview
The goal of this course is to provide a broad overview of the root causes of chronic disease seen today in modern societies. Root causes of disease come from our toxic environment, exposure to infectious agents, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal disruption and imbalanced immunity. These insults create chronic inflammation and oxidative stress that damage cellular function, promoting chronic illness. This discussion will review each causative factor, its impact on health, and current approaches to treatment. It will integrate treatments used in Chinese medicine, Naturopathic medicine and Western medicine.
Regardless of the paradigms you offer in your practice, one approach is often limited in therapy. Having multiple skill sets to approach a complex problem offers greater opportunity for restoring health. This course will bridge the East and West to provide a holistic perspective on chronic illness, with clinical pearls that can be applied right away.
Objectives
-
Learn about the bodies response to imbalance and damage with inflammation and oxidative stress, and recognizing they are the pathway to diseases.
-
Become familiar with the several causative factors that contribute to the development of chronic disease.
-
Understand current diagnostic approaches to uncovering these influences.
-
Learn about treatment options to remediate each issue.
Outline
0 hrs - 30 min
Review current concepts of how specific factors are related to chronic inflammation and oxidative stress leading to complex chronic diseases. This will allow practitioners to understand the common pathways leading to chronic disease development.
30 min - 1 hrs
Discuss seven specific elements, recognized as the fundamental causes of chronic illness. By gaining knowledge of the individual factors associated with illness, a plan for testing and treatment can be developed.
1 hrs - 1.5 hrs
Discuss individual paradigms and their approach to diagnosing each causative factor. Evaluation to determine a causative factor of illness helps direct treatment and avoids missing hidden influences that need treatment.
1.5 hrs - 2 hrs
Develop integrative approaches to treatment of these factors and ways to reduce their presence and impact on health. Knowing what the problems are then requires approaches to treatment that can restore health.

*CEU/CPD Approvals
Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days.
If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days.
We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top.
Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request.
If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
