Smart Phone, Dumb Posture: Solving Chronic Pain in the Digital Age
This six-hour, hands-on workshop explores fascia as the body’s dynamic, collagen-based connective tissue system and examines its role in force transmission, posture, movement, sensation, and tissue adaptation. Participants will be introduced to foundational concepts including biotensegrity, mechanotransduction, fascial densification, and fascial regeneration, with discussion of how these concepts inform assessment and myofascial treatment.
The workshop then moves from theory into practice, beginning with postural assessment and guided exploration of fascial techniques and handholds. Participants will work with partners to develop practical assessment skills and apply techniques to the tibialis, iliac crest, obliques, quadratus lumborum, upper lateral line, serratus, latissimus, pectoralis minor, subclavius, and scapular region. The final portion focuses on the sternocleidomastoid, scalenes, and suboccipital group, with opportunities for questions and discussion throughout.
Combining current fascia concepts with extensive hands-on practice, this workshop is designed to help practitioners connect the underlying science of fascial adaptation with practical assessment and treatment techniques they can incorporate into clinical practice.
