Important Update on Golden Flower Chinese Herbs Leave a comment
As many of you may know from our past updates, Golden Flower Chinese Herbs has recently undergone an unexpected change of manufacturer. Due to the resulting modifications to the products, we have had to relicense all the Golden Flower formulas, which we have been actively and successfully doing with Health Canada. But, before we can import the products, we need to also add the new manufacturer to our site license and have them approved by Health Canada. The new manufacturer, while being a reputable company, is not GMP certified, which means they need to provide the additional documents in order for us to be able to have them approved by Health Canada as a manufacturer for the Canadian market. We have been requesting this information for a year, but to date we have not received what is required.
Last week, we were notified by Golden Flower that they are unable/unwilling to meet the Health Canada criteria with the new manufacturer and their new processes, and as a result will be discontinuing having the Golden Flower products available in Canada.
We are actively looking for a creative solution with Golden Flower to continue having the products available in Canada. We are very discouraged, as we have promoted the Golden Flower line in Canada for 30 years and understand that many of you depend on the formulas for your patients. The Golden Flower formulas we do have in stock are still from the old manufacturer, but when these are gone we will be unable to replace them in the foreseeable future.
Please know that this situation is out of our control, and we have done our part by relicensing their products with Health Canada, but we are currently at an impasse.
On a positive note, we are actively working on finding a replacement. Tian Jiang and Treasure of the East are Health Canada approved, and we have licensed and ordered many of their formulas in capsule form. We anticipate these being available in a couple of months and will continue to grow this line. In the meantime, we also now have the Treasure of the East formula granules and single granules available.
If there are specific Golden Flower products for which you do not see a replacement, please let us know, so we can prioritize a solution for these products. If there are specific Treasure of the East products we do not currently carry, but you would like us to, also let us know so we can prioritize getting them licensed and available in Canada.
